how do you get a sweetgum tree to stop producing sweetgum balls?

call a nursery there is something they inject into the tree before they bloom to prevent the gumballs.. it cost money but it works...i have 6 trees i just use a large bagger on my rider.or you can sell them for porkupine eggs.....

You could ring it. But then that would kill it, you wouldn't have to worry about the balls but now a tree falling.
