never done it with toast, i did come home kinda drunk once and decided to cook a frozen pizza because i had the munchies. i passed out on the sofa and awoke to the buzzing of one smoke detector and the beeping of another and an apartment filled with smoke. since then i only buy microwaveable frozen pizza.

I am proud to say that I've never set off the fire alarm with ANY of my culinary exploits, whether it's toast or something more complicated. My mother, on the other hand, is a totally different story. I think she uses the fire alarm as a way to tell when things are "done."

Last week I was making toast and the plastic tie from the bread fell in when I put the bread and I didn't notice it until it started burning. It melted to my finger while I was trying to remove it. Then, the fire alarm went off but I was too busy trying to to save my finger to worry about it.

The toast, the bacon, the hot wings. Sometimes a hot shower sets that damn thing off! If I bake, I have to put it in the fridge.
