I have mixed thoughts about this. I did not approve of the pre-emptive attack on Iraq, but perhaps if the US attacked Iran it woulf create the same mess as in Iraq, and weaken the country.

I am a Democrat, but I have no use for Islam. I can not see anything good in that religion. It is a promoter of Jihad and that means killing your enemies. It also means the maltreatment of women.

NGBILL: I have a college degree. I do not need to go get a GED. I do not see women behind the veil as being anything positive for women. These women are opressed. I know and have known several Middle Eastern men. I know how they think. Once again, I am not impressed.

OVEE: I know more about Iran than you might think. I have a close male freind, whose name is Kamal, who is from Iran. He has told many things. He wants to divorce his wife, but she would be disowned by her family, and probably killed if he did. He wants to be an American: she does not. So they live apart, bound by Islamic law. I still hold my stance.

Varied opinions on this one I'm sure but for the most part many are realizing that war can cause so much heartache.

Concerning Iran, here is some interesting information.

GREAT LINKS BELOW THAT DISPELL SOME OF THE HYPE CONCERNING U.S. And IRAN face Off.

Countries need reasons to go to war and striking fear into the hearts of it's citizens has been a popular propaganda tool for ages. So right now we are being lead to believe that if Iran is building power plants than it is for the ultimate agenda of building nuclear arms. And we are to assume that they will use them. But think about it, Iran would get obliterated if they ever sent one up. It would be immediate suicide for them as the U.S. has 10,000 + nukes in it's arsenal and Israel even has several even though under the middle east treaty Israel is Not suppose to have any.

Look for example at the so called “Nut Job” Leader of North Korea. The media talks about what a lunatic the leader of North Korea is. But wait a minute this "nut " has nukes but wait... He hasn't attacked. Of course not, He knows it would be suicide for his country. But he also knows that having one is a great deterrent from anyone invading his country.
When you consider human rights issues The North Korea leader doesn't care..He is a much bigger nut than Ahmadinejad who has actually sought meetings with President Bush only to be denied and kept at more than arms length. Ahmadinejad's diplomacy is making western governments look bad.

But in order to position for the next offensive, we have to continue with name calling, labeling and assumptions of what Iran is "going to do".
So that if we hear it long enough it must be true.

But , naturally it starts to become very easy to see through the smoke screen. Iran’s leader, handled the British Soldier situation in an extremely civil manner on the world stage.
Of course, this was too much for the U.K and U.S. to handle so of course we have to say how horribly treated the soldier’s were and how they were coerced. ..even though the soldier’s are showed snacking out and even smiling shortly after their capture. The soldier’s were very apologetic and suffered no physical harm.

If the soldier's had so much as a bruise, the westerne media would have been displaying images night and day. But instead the U.K. just responded with a story, no documentation. This is all part of the setup to villianize a nation to strike fear in the hearts of the people so the masses think “we have to get them”

Also Ahmadinejad never said that Israel should be wiped off the map either. But yet, that is the story we were told by our controlled media sources. Many scholars who are fluent in farsi attest to the fact that the meaning referrred to a complete change in Israel's administration. see the following link.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=NOR20070120&articleId=4527

AND GET THIS:
Ahmadinejad visited the United States back in Sept of 2006 and met with a large group of rabbis and yet not one word about the visit on the nightly news.
see image in this link....ask yourself " how could this be ?"
http://www.foxnews.com/images/247825/0_62_122606_rabbi.jpg

anyway, politicians and governments have to sell the story..."sadaam has weapons of mass destruction" creates fear... Now we have to go get him...But we couldn't find the weapons...

Now it’s time to villianize Iran... to set up the next stage of the operation. I pray not.
Iran needs a good deterrent.

Below is a link to a well made documentary.
Great comments by current and retired military personnel. This is important especially for those of us who have served or who are serving and also those of you with children as someday we may see a draft reinstated and we should all be clear on what we are fighting for.

Democrats and Repubs should lay down party politics and get serious about doing the right thing so that the country’s citizens and the country’s soldiers are not put in harms way unnecessarily. Very well made documentary and a little hard to want to face.

The US needs to pull out of Iraq and stop messing with Iran, because Iran has nuclear weapons and would basically destroy most of the US. Islam is a very complicated religion but we have no right to judge one religion based off of what some of it's followers believe. The word Jihad actually means a struggle for the cause of religion which just could be a debate. Islam is not all about treating women badly. Some Islamic women like the way they are treated, sometimes Islam protects it's women. But in some strict Islamic countries women are mistreated. What we as Americans think about Islam is what we see on TV, and in the news. But we don't know enough to judge the religion.

If the US attacked Iran all hell would break loose in the region with all countries in the region (except Israel of course) would turn against the US.

Further ,very few if any country would abide such US action even all it's allies including Britain.

You say you have "no use" for Islam and see nothing good in that religion.

By your very words, you declare loudly your appalling ignorance, your racism and bankrupted morality.

First, most Muslims DO NOT BELIEVE IN JIHAD .Only the ISLAMIC fundamentalists believe inb this as they read the Koran as an inerrant and literal text.THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT CHRISTIAN/JEWISH and other religious fundamentalists do .You don't judge a religion by extreme sects of that religion as we do not judge Christianity by the whacko fundamentalists we have.

For somebody who obviously knows little if nothing about Islam ,your comment that you see nothing good in Islam is a reflection of your sheer ignorance.

Lastly my little one .OUR CHRISTIANITY has over it's history butchered, slaughtered, genocided, tortured literally millions over two millennia.

The maltreatment of Muslim women is in fact forbidden by Mohammed in the Koran .Whatever abuse of women that occurs and it is significant is the fault of specific extreme sects Islam who take a LITERAL interpretation of the Koran JUST LIKE OUR whacko Christian fundies and their view of women being subservient to males .

Go finish your GED and come back when you filled in the enormous gaps in your knowledge.Thank You.

Islam has a hell of a way to go before it even is able to match the atrocities our CHRISTIANITY has been responsible for .

Attacking Iran is not attacking Islam. Lots of Iranians are not Muslims, and lots of Muslim Iranians are not religous at all, specially among the new generations. what you say is basically from the usual lack of information about middle east -and other parts of the world- among Americans.
I hope before you solve the problems with gang banging the third world countries to make them "weak", you try to understand the problem first.

Iran doesn't need attacking /just/ because it's an Islamist Theocracy. If it were, say athistic & communist, for instance - like North Korea - and persuing nuclear weapons - like North Korea - it might still be worthwhile to attack it - right after, say, North Korea...

Or, maybe not.

Iran is also a much tougher nut to crack than Iraq. It hasn't suffered as prolonged nor as severe international sanctions, it's military is larger, better equipped, and better organized, and it's people have greater support for it's government.

I used to be all for it. I think we should have gotten out a long time ago. I just heard tonight on the news that the Iranians who want a democratic society aren't wanting us there anymore as we attract violence. Don't know what would happen to them if we weren't there. I hate to go in there, stir up the pot, and leave them. But.... I'm not thinking we're getting anywhere like this.

Murdering more people isn't going to stop terrorism.

Have you read the Qu'ran? Have you spoken to Muslim scholars? Do you really think you understand what Islam teaches?

Those idiots murdering other people in the name of their God are not Muslims, any more than the priests who rape children are Christians. People have perverted religion for their own ends for thousands of years, and the radicalist extremists misusing the term "jihad" are no different.

We can actually handle both at the same time without a problem.

All we have to do is somehow stop all the liberal wack jobs who are weakening and undermining our effort.

Don't you remember WW II? We had war theaters on a much larger scale in both Europe and Asia, and we won BOTH of them.

The war in Iraq is a side show in comparison.
