when i moved into my house, there was alot of *crap* in the loft of my Garage. I stimbled upon a 25lb shell of some sort.
its about 25lbs
about 16" tall (without a fuse/cone on top)
it has a brass band thats about 4" from the bottom, and under witch i think is solid metal
its got only 1 engraving on it and that is "Y-10"
it has threads on the top (where a warhead/cone/fuse may go)
i don't know any thing about this, and the previous owner of the house has died, so i can't ask.
if you could give me as much info as possible that would be AWESOME!!!!!
heres some pictures too

Do not touch it.
report it to the cops or bomb squad.

Even with the fuse missing it may still be dangerous. Many explosives (especially wartime) contain Picric Acid. This reacts (in time) with the metal and gets very (I MEAN VERY VERY) unstable (as in BOOM). Think Nitroglicerine.

There are very few explosives which age well. Most go Boom sooner or later.

Of course it may be a inert shell (training) or an empty casing. Does not sound like it from your description though, so I sugest the Bomb Squad.

****. That looks like a live tank round. Report it. If it still has its charge, it IS a hazard, even without the fuse.

4" lengthy, suspect it really is a .50 round, for a device gun. degree and observe if the diameter in a million/2 inch. it really is a person-pleasant keepsake for infantrymen, merely take it to any gun keep and the adult males/females can inform you what it really is and perchance date it through the markings. image is linked, also it will be a "dummy" yet in all probability it really is a authentic one.

If I were you, I would call the non emergency police number and ask them if the shell was armed. I would be afraid it might explode.

Dunno about what kind , but it could also be a tank shell . Looks a little old for Vietnam but I'm no expert. Looks WWII era to me. Strange though , Y-10 is a chinese commercial aircraft.
