7*x=7x
4(x-12)=4x-48
7x=4x-48
3x=-48
x=-16
7/-16-12=4/-16
-7/28=-4/16
-1/4=-1/4

7/x-12 = 4/x bring the 7/x over to the right you have
-12 = 4/x-7/x = -3/x = -12 cross multiply you get
-12x= -3, then divide both sides by -3

is it 7/(x-12) = 4/x if so then the answer is x= - 16
