Depends on your physical condition. If you've worked out a lot in the past and can't do no more, you're too tense. In this case getting the heart pumping without too much strain on your limbs would be the go. Or just some stretching/yoga and a warm bath.
Other cases, get into a serious sport or get serious about a sport. You see things from above when you have trained. This is not an idea, its true! Whatever it is, if you commit and make an effort, you will be in a real heaven.
But don't over-train. Its counter-productive in the long run.

Exercise. Going for a brisk jog almost always makes me feel better. Also good is watching a funny movie, talking (and laughing) with friends, going for a walk, taking a nap.

As weird as it sounds, cleaning my place (or doing any kind of household chores) will also help me de-stress.

Probably not your style, but soft classical music relaxes me best. Kicked back in a soft chair with a cup of hot chocolate and Moonlight Sonata (Beethoven) playing.

Going walking at a fast pace for about 30 minutes & taking a hot shower afterward.

running...I know that sounds weird, but there is actually stuff to prove it. Running releases the element that that gets people high (located in drugs) in extremely small amounts from the brain, relaxing you....Plus its calming because if you run fast enough it drives out every thought but ow ow ow tired....

I also like reading fantasy/sci fi/adventure books in the sun(releases vitamin D). Its nice to escape to another world for awhile...

Read a book at a park, cloud watching, watch a funny movie, do something constructive...

Personally, I play music or listen to some jazz. Or go to the park at night. Weird, huh? That's me. Smile, girl :). Peace!

Spending time with my pets always can help me, but if you have no pets I would try people watching. Go to a coffee shop or somewhere with a good view and entertain yourself by the stupidity out there!! Sometimes it helps to see others blow something way out of proportion to make me feel normal.

Laying in a tanning bed. Between the warmth and the hum, it is definently relaxing.
