I had a baby who is 13 yrs old now who had a popped out belly button. the skin was all healed but the belly button would pop up when she cried.

So the Dr gave an advise. Put a nickel on the baby's belly button to flatten it, wrap the baby's tummy (over the coin) with a stretchy bandage until the belly button stops popping out. I left the bandage on my baby 24/7 for about 2 weeks....it worked!

This is an old 'remedy' which is practiced in asia. Make sure that you had taken the baby to the Dr and your baby has no hernia or sickness before you do this.

Good luck!

My two month olds belly button does this due to a small umbilical hernia. But the skin is healed his belly button just will pop out when crying or straining.

You should for sure take him to the doctor. The popping out can be the way his belly button normally is or it may be a hernia. This seems to be especially common in little boys. Until he gets to the doctor you may want to put a little ointment on it like Polysporin. This may help to keep away infection. Good luck!

My daughter is 6 and hers is still like that. It is a small hernia they just don't operate on belly buttons like they use to. My doctor would check it at every visit when she was an infant and said we would just watch it and hers has never given her trouble. When she cries it seems to stick out more, but I have asked her and she said it does not hurt.

if there is no part of the belly button exposed, then its a hernia, but if there is, its an umbilical ganuloma. my son had that he's 9 weeks old. it has to be burned (he wouldn;t feel a thing) with silver nitrate..see your doctor about that..
