I wouldn't say its too much, but I'm sure you could negoiate a better price of say $6200. I have a 2004 636 that I bought used in December 2005 with 3K miles for $5000. The ZX-6R was definitely an awesome bike, I can understand why Kawasaki no longer makes it though.

learn to walk before you try to run. A couple of years on a small to mid size bike makes it a lot more likely you will live through your probationary period. Even a good 250 will enable you to exceed all speed limits by a comfortable margin. Consider the statistics - you will have an accident in your first 6 -9 months. You want to have a bike that wont cost you a fortune when it hits the bitumen. You also want a bike that wont spit you off if you're a little careless with the throttle in a low gear. Most 600/4s will pull a mono at traffic speeds if mishandled - not good for a novice

It's reasonable.
