MY betta hangs out @ the top all of the time. is that normal. he is not dead but when he's @ the top, he doesn't flap his pelvic fins nd if u put ur finger near him he'll get all active nd swim. so i just wanna know whats wrog. THANX!

Your Betta is normal. My Betta's are all over the place but tend to stay at the top most of the time.

It's not too uncommon for them to act that way, but it is far more common in a very warm or in an unfiltered environment. If this fish is in a small (less than 2 gallon) bowl with no filter or air stone, that would be the reason.

Beta's are surface breathers they have a "lung" like organ called a labryth. Hanging out near the top is pretty normal.

It is normal HE hangs out top because he's an anabantid, a fish that can breathe air.

Its is natural Bettas are top - dweelers(likes the top)

Maybe his tank in too small get him a new tank and some plants....and something to hide in.
