You should first run a complete scan on your pc, and then run google searches for the pests you find, to get the manual removal instructions.
Go to http://www.infectedornot.com and run a TotalScan there. It's the newest Panda Software mega detection tool. You can try it for free at the "Infected or Not?" web site as part of a promotion. It has more virus definitions than anything else, and it detects all forms of malware, not only viruses.
The site is safe, it's owned by Panda, you can check that on nic.com

If you do not have firefox get it now and use it instead of internet explorer so you dont get any more spyware http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/
To remove the spyware/trojan/virus run steps 1-2
1) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/2007/03/spybot-search-and-destroy-spyware-and.html do that now .Update it (Latest updates 11-04-2007) and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans in safe mode
1b) Run AVG Anti-Spyware Free

or
SUPERAntiSpyware Home Edition (free version)

Just think about this for a second...if FREE programs and store shelf protects were protecting our computers ....would we be at war with cyber crime? Each PC that is not protected is scanned atleast 17 times a day! People are fooled with these 'protections' that they are being protected...they are not! Out of all of the individuals that are online ONLY 10% are actually protected! The other 90% ARE NOT! And if you are not using Corporate Level type of security ...YOU ARE NOT PROTECTED PERIOD! I am proud to say that I am among that 10% ...and can 'breathe' when my family and I are online! We are at MAJOR war with cyber crime! Look it up! 2007 News on Cyber Crime

Getting rid of some spyware/adaware is sometimes a task in itself, first off I would go download the program "Spyware Doctor" It doesnt remove what you already has but it will stop any further problems.
If you don't already, download Ad-Aware SE, it will help remove things and possibly might find things that trend micro's program missed.

Typically, once something malicious is installed, most AVs won't help. The best free one of the bunch is Antivir
Otherwise, get roguefix, windows defender, and spybot search and destroy. If that doesn't work, you'll need more individual attention - like which virus is actually causing the popups, and so on.

pop-ups are general malware, and not necessarily viruses.
I suggest you install SpyBot. A link to it, and all the other malware soft you could need is here:

If your computer has the "system restore" feature, turn it off temporarily, and then run the scan. Then reboot in safe mode and run it again. Reboot again and turn on system restore again.
If that doesn't work, you may have to manually navigate through your registry and manually delete the files.
