For a freshwater aquarium to which you want to add some salt, the best thing to do is use kosher salt. It's the same stuff as the expensive salt for freshwater aquariums. Don't use marine salt mix, it contains many elements you don't want in your freshwater tank.

For medicating purposes, use NaCl - this can be non-iodized table salt, kosher salt, canning or pickling salt, or aquarium salt. If you're setting up a saltwater or brackish tank, sea salt mix.

There are special salts. I use a aquarium salt that is made from evaporated sea water. I guess you could use salt water mixes but they usually come in large quantities and you don't need so much. they should sell aquarium salt at your LFS.

without hosts for a quantity of time, ich parasites will ultimately die from loss of food. Ich is a parasite that burrows under a fish's pores and skin, and feeds on their blood. Fish oftentimes die from rigidity or secondary an infection. i'd get all your water parameters so as. make confident the water is sturdy for fish. And purely upload a pair.. provide them 2 weeks earlier including greater.. If ich does reappear, then immediatly manage the tank with an ich drugs. i've got used Coppersafe earlier contained in the previous, and it worked extremely nicely. purely regardless of you %., persist with this is instructions heavily.

Don't use table salt, it is hazardous.
Go to WalMart or somewheres and there's a specific salt you can buy for use on freshwater tanks.
