School superintendents are not elected. They are hired by the Board of Education of a school district. Members of The Board of Education might be voted on by the community or in some places the Mayor of the city appoints them and they in turn will hire the Superintendent(s).
Also, superintendents are given contracts for so many years.

Re "how do school superintendent get elected? "

Those school systems that pump out the most retarded, uneducated students with zero English skills produce the most superintendents. Volume counts.

For example, in your question "how do school superintendent get elected? ", a candidate would get ten bonus points for every student that produces phrases with poor grammar, such as your "how do school superintendent get elected? ".

The candidate that has produced the most ignorant students then "do get elected".
