1 D Double fertilization because two sperm nuclei are doing the fertilizing.

2. D Ferns are vascular plants and mosses are nonvascular. They still do the alternation of generations thing.

3. C Ethylene is a gas.

4. A The root cap protects the growing root TIP.

5. B Potatoes are actually tubers which are specialized underground stems for food storage.

6. C Protects the seed from drying out (and also serves to protect the embryo from physical damage)

7. A The diploid generation has to be the sporophyte. Just think of how the sporophyte was made. An egg and a sperm had to join together in the gametophyte to make the sporophyte. That means there was a set of chromosomes from the egg and a set of chromosomes from the sperm = 2 sets of chromosomes = diploid.

Note: Plenty of people on Yahoo answers know exactly what they are talking about. I am always impressed with the quality of the answers.
