To some extent, it's true Prince William can marry whomever he wishes within reason. She can't be divorced or Catholic. Due to the Act of Settlement in 1701, the heir to the British Throne can't be a Catholic or marry one. The Act was written to prohibit members of the Scotish royal family, the Stuarts who were Catholic from ascending the Throne. As to marrying an American, sure why not. Other heirs to thrones in The Netherlands (Crown Prince Willem-Alexander) and Denmark (Crown Prince Fredrik) wives were from Argentina {Crwn Princess Maxima- Netherlands} and Australia {Crwn Princess Mary- Denmark). Even if he doesn't marry an American which I think is highly unlikely. There are plenty of eligible young ladies of class which will be more then happy to be England's next Queen. Princess Madeline of Sweden has been said to be a possible choice in the past. Swedes are Lutheran ie protestant. And she's not the heir to the Swedish Throne, her older sister is, Crwn Princess Victoria. Another point in the Madeline's corner is that she and Wills are separated by just a week 1/2 in birthdays. Both will be 25 in June, she's about a week 1/2 older then he is. Also Sir Richard Branson's, the Chairman of the Virgin company (Virgin Atlantic airways, Virgin Mobile, etc) daughter Holly has been in years
passed touted to be in the running for his possible bride.

Yup - there's nothing that says the heir to the throne must marry a Brit. In fact, through much of history it was more common for the heirs to marry royalty from other countries than anyone from their own. Queen Elizabeth, for example, is married to a former Greek Prince. There are a few circumstances in which William would have to give up the throne due to a marriage (marrying a Catholic, for one), but marrying an American isn't one of them so go for it.

"that is criminal contained in the united kingdom, perfect?" No, that is incorrect. similar-sex couples are literally waiting to settlement a "civil partnership", which has dissimilar the same consequences as marriage (e.g. pension rights, joint possession of houses, inheritance of resources, etc.) yet in regulation is explicitly not the same element as marriage. for that reason, if Prince William were to settlement a civil partnership with a guy, the guidelines relating royal marriages (e.g. the only about not marrying Roman Catholics) would not observe, and there is not any royal rank or call that the major different might want to immediately be entitled to. a function and call might want to should be invented for him, really because the royal kinfolk of Norway have those days had to invent a function for "the illegitimate commoner son of the Crown Princess from beforehand she married the prince", not a function that has a lengthy body of precedent in the back of it! All that suggested, i'm not particular that public opinion is waiting for a King in a publicly-regarded gay relationship, and that i think that if it were to ensue the King in question might want to easily abdicate really than positioned it to the attempt.

William, like anyone else, can marry who he wants.
If he is to be King, however, she can't have been divorced and must be a member of the Church of England (since the British monarch is also head of the Church of England). So he can't marry an anthiest, Roman Catholic, Jew, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh or anyone from any other religion other than C of E.
Nationality isn't an issue.

He can marry anyone he wants but if he wants to remain in the line of succession then he can not marry a Roman Catholic( because the Church Of England is the recognized religion of the Monarchy) nor can he marry someone who is divorced. Prince Charles could marry Camilia because Diana had died and he had the Queen's permission.( even though I did not agree with it, now I say whatever makes them happy)

Of course he can.
However, whether he can assume the crown is another issue.
I believe the last time this was an issue (Prince Edward), the issue
was that his American paramour was divorced.
Clearly that taboo has been breached.
Also, people have been marrying off princes and princesses to
royalty of other countries as part of friendship treaties, etc. There
is no law that prevents it.

Yes, he can marry anyone he chooses, but the Queen can bust him anytime she chooses, also. I thought I read somewhere that P. William liked actresses of the pornographic establishment. But, I;m probably wrong. I think I got that from the Star or one of those other grocery store line newspapers, tabloids I believe they're called. As a matter of fact, I think it was a pornographic alien that he was dating.

I don't think Americans would like that. After all, the USA is a democracy. The horror of one of them being a Princess/Queen. (Meaning royalty and all) I mean that would really stir up the whole "every man is equal" thing.
Besides, do you think the Royal family can accept someone who isn't schooled in the art of English culture? What with all their strict rules of society.

He can, but the crown might not be happy with it. She, as an American Citizen, CANNOT accept title of any kind as a result of the marriage and would not, even if granted the title by the Crown, be hearalded as Princess of Wales by the U.S gov unless she were to be first declaed a British subject, and even then, I do not think the crown would grant her title of any kind beyoin Queen-Consort because she is American by birth.
