There are several reasons. First, the financial cost of a common rodent is much less than that of a primate. Second, monkeys are much closer to humans evolutionarily, thus eliciting protests from the public and ethical questions among the researchers.
Because of this, monkeys are typically only used when rats aren't an accurate analog to humans.

They have a shorter lifecycle so you can test multiple generations faster, also they cost less to care for and to breed and take up less space so instead of testing on 3 monkeys for the same price you could test on 100 rats.

People don't complain when you experiment on rats and mice, so are the preferred animal for experimentation (after lawyers).

Also, their rapid breeding cycles mean that any mutations can be maintained and increased in subsequent generations much quicker than in primates.

Scientists studying genetics have proven that rats and mice are closely related to humans. Their (rats and mice) genetic codes almost match to the human genetic codes.

*Lab's rats* genetically identical . It's mean you'll have same reaction from all of them for single variation of the test. And whet you received result of the test from single rat you can expect same results from other. When you make a test you have to have same reaction but not approximate result from different genetic systems.
