I am not sure how much an elective procedure like this would cost, but I have a feeling it wouldn't be covered by medical insurance. However, most hospitals DO have payment options so you can spread your bill out over the course of a year (maybe more) if you can't pay all at once.
Your girlfriend will want to establish herself with a fertility specialist as she is considered "high risk" for conception, pregnancy and childbirth. If the tube reversal is unsuccessful, you can always try surrogacy or adoption.

Ok well having had this done...first step...she has to speak with her GYN...to be sure her age is NOT a factor--- higher risk of miscarriage, health risks for her and the baby and also to see how her tubes were tied and if there is enough left to put together.
Then if you have medical insurance call them and see if they cover any of it.
If they do not then ask about IVF - this is a better alternative then having her tubes untied and having to retie them or go through this horrible surgery.
Anyway, it cost my husband and I 7000, but our insurance paid for most of it and our final bill was only 790!
Just remember though this is NOT a quick fix I have been trying since 9/04 with two losses. Fertility in the woman decreases with age!

Previous poster I have two words for you Demi and Ashton...just because people are druel and make fun of may/december romances doesn't mean they don't deserve to bring a child into the world...my father is married to a woman 28 years his junior and she makes him happier than he's ever been....
I don't have any advice on the untying of the tubes other than to have your g-friend ask her medical ins provider if that is a covered expense...

Costwise and with her age and situation you are best skipping fixing the tubes and going straight to IVF> they can harvest her eggs and fetilize them then implant. The cost will be pretty close to the same and with fixing the tubes it takes time to heal. She is losing time becuase after 40 fertilit starts to go away. There are some grant and financing programs to help pay for IVF if you research them on the web. and kudos to you for being with an older woman! I always dated younger. I never saw age as an issue as long as everyone was legal.

At her age she only has about a 50% success rate of being able to conceive after the reversal. You can expect the total cost, barring any complications, to be around $7,500. Many doctors offer payment plans. Very few, if any, insurance companies will pay for this surgery.
Another option to consider is IVF--your odds would certainly be better.

I would recommend a marriage before children. Also, why would you want to raise a child who will be made fun of it's whole life because it's mother looks more like "G-ma"
