it depends on the car. it could a vacuum leak on the engine , it could be vacuum modulator on the trans, it could be not enought trans fluid. or time to chande the fluid and trans screen (filter)

That would be correct. If your under hard acceleration the transmission will rev higher before it shifts into the next higher gear, or will downshift itself to gain extra power. Nothing to worry about.

Yeah the transmission controls the pause and shifting.

bit of both as the ecu of both the engine and the transmission knows the shifting point of the gears it will quickly back off the revs and change gear which is why you get the jerking feeling

If it is behaving oddly it might be that your transmission is slipping. You might want to have it serviced.
