Does anyone know if matboard can be router cut without the edges fraying? To be honest I don't really know much about this type of board so any information would be helpful.

I would seriously avoid doing that. I think matboard should be cut using the matboard cutters so you can get a even beveled edge. If you are trying to cut costs and not buy a cutter or if you do not have access to one then in the past I have cut that foam board that you use for science fair displays then painted it black or whatever color. (I am college art student and need to mat many projects on low budget....)

I don't think it would work. Exato ( the company that makes the knives with the replaceable blades) makes a device that makes a beveled cut on mat board. It is a tool you use by hand. It costs less than $10. If you are interested in a more professional cutter, they are available at
