I used to run 2.5 miles on my lunch break and I miss it so much. Any idea how long before I'll be able to pick it up again? I had my clavicle repaired on 4-23-07.

Follow the advice of the RN. I would add that you should not go right out and immediately walk 2.5 mi first time back. Rather, start with 10-15 mins of walking and add 5 mins each 2 or 3 times after getting back. Once you are able to walk 2.5 mi at a brisk pace and no pain then repeat the same build up with your running. You can start walking ASAP.

Wondering why you had surgery on the clavicle because this is one of our bones which heal quite well even without surgery, no matter how gross the appearance of the bone on Xrays appear. The clavicle usually remodels well in a year's time or so and nonunion here is also quite rare. Anyway, with or without the surgery you should be able to use your extremity within 6-8 weeks.

walk during your lunch break, when it is no longer sore walking, then you can try running, let your body be your guide.
