I have a job dillemma??

I currently work in the accounting dept. of my company. I transferred to this dept from a less glamorous postion about 2 years ago. Once I transferred I soon realized that I would have rather stayed in the less glorified postion than go to the accounting dept. I do have an associates degree in accounting and that is what I want to do with my life but the actual work that I do is not what I would consider accounting. Not to mention I cannot stand the lady I share an office with. She has been with the company for almost 40 years and of course thinks she knows everything and makes me feel very small and stupid. Well it has recently come to my attention that my old unglorified postion is opening back up. My dillemma is do I apply for it and jeapordize any chance in the future of ever returning to the account dept or do I stay where I'm at? Should I talk to my supervisor first? What steps should I take before I make my ultimate decision?

Also I would like to add there would not be a difference in salary and if there were it would be possibly making more. I make very good money to work in such a small town close to my home. And we have excellant benefits. Also, my current supervisor has only been with the company for 4 months and has only been my supervisor for about a week which makes it easier and harder to speak with him on this.

This is actually non-complex.

Simply decide if your work is about contentment and being happy or the money and benefits. Once you get that decided the rest it easy.

You could keep you present position and elect to look elsewhere for a new job; the options are yours in this case.

If you have a good relationship with your supervisor, talk to him. BUT BEWARE-- do not speak negatively about theperson who you dislike. Itis very possible that your supervisor and her have been thru a lot together before you joined the co, so be careful.
You might say you really do not enjoy theworkyou're doing and you have seen where your former job is opening up and you have given it some consideration,
and you might ask ifthere isanother positionin the co available that he knows of.
As far as being in the same dept with a
b^^^^, you have to learn, you'll find this everywhere you go and you have to accept it.

Is there a difference in salary? Compensation? Working hours? I would start there. At the point where I am right now...money talks. But also, where do you have real chances of advancement?
