log[base 4](x) = 5/2

Change to exponential form.

4^(5/2) = x

This translates to

x = 4^(5/2)
x = [4^(1/2)]^5
x = 2^5
x = 32

Rewrite this as 4^(5/2) =x. So x=32

Put everything to the power of 4:

4^(log4x)=4^(5/2)

But of course, the LHS is just equal to x now:

x=4^(5/2)=[4^1/2]^5=2^5=32

Note the intermediate step, it just to help you appreciate what exactly it means to be raised to this kind of power and not just using a calculator.
