is it possable to change a diesel engine for a petrol 2litre 16v?

i have a escort diesel van and a mondeo 2 litre ztec car is this possable and what would be involved

Its possible but absolutely not worth it. You could buy a petrol van for what it would cost.

You'd need to change the engine (you already have that), the gearbox, the drive shafts, the front suspension, the entire exhaust system, the entire fuel system from the filler flap through the tank to the engine bay, the entire engine wiring loom and probably the dash loom as well, the entire cooling system, the ECU and with that the ignition barrel to enable the immobiliser.

There's a hundred other minor modifications required on top of these rather large ones.

You'll save yourself a fortune if you simply buy another van!

It is possible.
However, it would be much easier to transfer the engine from a petrol Escort than from a Mondeo - you'll have more of the right bits.

You'll need to change a lot more than just the engine, e.g.:
Fuel tank, filler neck, pumps, fuel lines
Instrument cluster
ECU
Engine bay wiring harness
Engine mounts
Transmission
Driveshafts
Front springs and dampers
Front anti-roll bar
Various other electrical/electronic items.

It is a lot of effort, and not a job for an amateur.

yes but it is alot of work engine mounts wiring loom fuel tank fuel lines gear linkages and thats just the start i would stick with diesel its more economical

No don't bother its not just engine there is the radiator reposition of mountings,exhaust,brake m/cylinder,gearbox,fuel pump at tank etc etc,just don't bother sell them both+buy what you need.

You may have to change the transmission as well, different torque curves. Also, physically it would have to fit into the available space.
