It's really easy:
1 meter (m)= 100 centimeters (cm) (from Latin hundred)
1 meter = 1000 millimeters (mm) (from Latin thousand)
1 kilo gram (kg)= 1000 gram (g) (think about KB)
1 liter (L)= 1000 milliliters (mL) (again, Latin for a thousand)

4.5 m=450 cm
68 ml=0.68 L
90 kg+90,000 g
etc'

all you need to know to use the metric system is this you need to know the right order aswell. these are from large to small.

kilo(k) hecto(h) deca - deci(d) centi(c) mili(m)

kilo means 1000
heco means a 100
deca 10
the stripe is the standard unit (count this aswell)
deci one tenth
centi one hundereth
mili a thousands.

paste any unit after it and youve got yourself a metric measuring unit. and its easy to convert, you just need to devide by 10, or multiply by 10 (on or several times)

youre first question:
4.5 m , meter is the standard unit, you want to convert this to centimeters, there are 10 centimeters in a decimeter, and 10 decimeters in a meter. so you simply multiply 4.5 by 10, and then again by 10.

so 4.5 meters is 4.5x10x10 = 450 cm.
