A good place to start is the Luxor, they offer a free class then let all the newbies play a low limit game for a while.

Same deal as "cory" described, I like the Luxor much better though.

for a list of all the daily LV poker tournaments and info on each.

There are more then enough cheap tournaments in Vegas just pick up a magazine in one of the poker rooms and they will give you a list of all the tournaments. As for people being patient that is another story. They are playing for money and to win. Check out a few of the larger casinos they should have courses for beginners. I know the Luxer does. Or, sign up for one of the free poker sites like poker starts or party poker and play for free to get a feel. Hope this helps!

Thisis basically two different issues:
Pot- limit tables (2-4, 3-6, 4-8), and the buy -ins are usually at most casino $40.00 min.
Tournament, the lowest I far as I know on the Strip is $40.00 plus $20 re-buy, at the Sahara. Most are locals playing these tourneys at this hotel.

I believe this is also the best tournament for the price and rules.
I always play the tourneys there.
For $60.00 you spend 2 to 4 hrs. and have a good time. Beats blackjack anytime in regard of gambling.

Excalibur is about as beginner friendly as it gets. They usually offer a comprehensive (free) training session in the late morning and then go to a $1 blind game afterwards. Good luck!
