Most of the increase in gas prices is due to the federal deficit. Since 2003, the Bush administration has spent $9 trillion above the amount of taxes taken in by the government. This is a staggering deficit. Money circulated thru deficit spending is worthless money that dilutes the value of money already in circulation.
When this happens, the dollar loses value on the international currency market. In 2003, 1 US dollar was worth 1.54 Euros. Today, 1 US dollar is worth only .74 Euros. The US dollar has lost 1/2 it's value on the international currency market in 4 years.
Most of our oil is imported. We must buy it on the international commodities market with currency that has lost 1/2 value. In 2003, crude oil was selling at about $30 a barrel. Today, it's selling at over $70 per barrel.
You are paying twice as much for oil because your government is spending too much money and is making your dollar worthless. It's as simple as that. And, until you get pissed off about it and demand them to stop, it's just going to keep going on.

Isn't the answer obvious? While the "puppet" leaders of Iraq feverishly negotiate with major oil companies, the production of Iraq oil has been reduced by the war and the paralyzed infrastructure. Iraqi citizens wait in line for gas several days. Bush and Cheney made their fortunes in oil and rest assured that Exxon-Mobil's unprecedented profits are not a mere coincidence. Bush and Cheney's goal is to control the major share of Iraq's oil. As we speak, production-sharing agreements between Iraq and major oil companies are underway.

Oil is definitely a factor in the war on terror, but not the way the far left liberals who head the Democratic party today portray it. They say that gasoline is expensive right now because of all the regulations put on oil companies. They have different blends for different times of year and it is expensive for them to change from the winter blend to the summer blend. I don't know enough about the differences to judge weather or not this helps our environment or not. From my research on the oil thing in Iraq I come to the conclusion that if we surrender in Iraq before they can defend their selves and Iran gets a hold of that oil along with the 10% of the world wide oil that Iran already has they will be able to really screw with the free world's economy. The far left hates Bush more then they love whats best for America they are so self centered that they will put our military in even more danger by embolden the terrorists by investing in defeat and lying about our president thus dividing our country all to make Bush look bad. And it makes me very ashamed of them.

Two Cent: THINK! Who is selling you
the gas? Not the gas station. It's Shell
or Esson or Mobil or BP or ??? These
are a few of the oil giants. These are
some of the corporations that made a
record high profits for the last quarter.
So where's your money going?

Well, We are not in Iraq for oil, but good point. The United States of America has the largest oil supply of the world, right in Alaska. Why not drill? Hippies! As for the war, we are helping them, we are doing the right thing.

Because the war has gone on much longer than planned, and the source isn't "secure" yet. Plus, the companies and OPEC set the prices. providing access to it does not guarantee that it will be cheaper.

It's not that expensive compared to other countries. This is one of the lamest comebacks from conservatives. I don't understand how they fail to see this. Our invasion of Iraq has no reflection on current oil prices, our invasion is about controlling the Iraqi government in the future. It is about controlling the flow of oil from that country in the future. Its really not that hard to understand.

Because darn it we don't have the government in place yet. We still need to get the new Iraqi government kick started so we can begin negotioations for their oil so George W can get richer.
