I recommend trying sparkpeople.com! Look me up under username Hughz22, if you join. It's a totally free diet and exercise plan...and it works! I lost over 30 pounds using their website to track my intake (food) and output (exercise). It's wonderful!
Here's some more tips that I've written up:
1. stop eating most grease, fat, salt, & sugar.
-this means basically NO fast food. fried foods. greasy food. fatty foods. sodium. sugary foods (including, but not limited to, candy & soda pop).
2. drink a lot. i mean A LOT. of WATER!
-at first this may cause you to put on some slight water weight, but in the long run it helps flush the fat out of your body. also, did you know that 90% of the times that you are hungry you are actually thirsty. you need to drink at least 8 glasses per day.
3. do NOT starve yourself.
-eat about 6 very small HEALTHY meals daily. that way your body won't go into starvation mode and it will easily process the food you eat and use it for energy instead of fat. if you starve yourself, you will gain even more weight back once you start eating again...because of your body thinking it needs to store more fat to prepare for another famine.
4. keep track of your calories eaten.
-you should probably aim to eat around 1,500 a day. do not go under 1,000. sparkpeople.com will suggest a healthy daily caloric intake for you based on your BMI (height to weight).
5. eat HEALTHY.
-this (in my opinion) basically means organic foods. vegetables. no white breads...eat lots of healthy 100% whole grains. fiber. etc. buy only healthy low fat/reduced fat & calorie foods....however just because they are healthier does not mean you can eat as much as you want of them. eat only 1 serving portion according to the nutrition label on the box.
6. exercise.
-(yes, i know it sucks...i hate it too). Did you know that researchers have now proven that DIET is more important than excercise when it comes to losing weight. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13821677/)..... Exercise is only important to keep a fit and tone body...It definately helps maintain your health! what i would recommend is starting with something super simple...like going for a 10 minute walk everyday for a week. then the next week going for a 20 or 30 minute walk at least 5x a week. the only way i can accomplish this is to make myself go for a walk at the same time everyday. honestly exercise helps a lot. plus it helps you feel fuller longer. remember...just because you exercise does not mean you can cheat on your diet.
7. take a daily vitamin
-...I take WeightSmart. there are also some other healthy vitamin supplements that help you lose weight in the long run. one of them that is good is called CLA. you can buy it at wal-mart or basically any store that sells vitamins. i wouldn't particularly recommend diet pills. they're kind of a waste of money and not good for your body.
8. weigh yourself.
-at least once a week, if not everyday. (you should aim to lose about 2 pounds a week.) also, set a long term goal weight & date.(based on if you were to lose about 1-2 pounds a week.)
9. BE PATIENT!!
-i cannot emphasize that enough! losing weight takes a while & believe me we all want a miracle overnight cure, however it simply does not exist. but if you stick to these things and really follow them. you will lose weight AND keep it off. if you try to lose the weight too fast, you'll just gain it right back. trust me. also, you will have slip ups, don't let them get you down, just start over again the next day...eventually you'll get it right, i promise!!!
10. remember that you are on a diet & let everyone around you know too.
-so that way they can support you. remember that out of sight=out of mind. get that junk food out of the house.
-------
one last thing i forgot to add, that is also essential to weight loss, is..........SLEEP. at least 8 hours a night. seriously.

Don't do anything drastic. Research has shown that by doing so, you can harm your body in the long-run and 9/10 people are likely to put the weight back on. I would make little changes such as, cutting down on snacks. Are you snacking when you know you shouldn't be? Save it till the weekend! I would also recommend going for a run every morning, not only is this great for your health- it boosts the circulation in your face and gives you a healthy glow! Run until you are breathless.. and if you do this for a whole week- treat yourself at the weekend with some snacks or a shopping spree (for your prom). :) Hope i helped!

Have one less portion at every meal and walk a couple of times a week. Also, cut out drinks with sugar for a while.
Don't do a crash diet. It's harder to keep so more likely you'll fail.
