All depends on the individual kid... they have different interests, and become interested in different things and mature into different parts of life at different ages.
IOW, if he has social relationships and isn't closed up in his room all the time with them, it's fine... if not, he may need some guidance in getting out to where he can find those things he likes about Playmobile... as some examples:
... it could be the school drama dept for acting, set-building and design, "directing", or just hanging out with others in an easy way if he likes the play-acting or some other aspects of Playmobile
... or it could be shop, or art or craft classes, where he can create stuff, if he likes the aesthetic parts
... or even engineering type things like model railroad building or remote-control planes, if he likes the building aspects
