why is psychology important in the nursing practice?

If your a nurse then you are going to be in contact with alot of different people. Some of those people will be going through 'scary' medical stuff and if you have skills in psychology, it will make things much easier for patients because you will be able to talk them through whatever they are going through.

Nurses spend much more time with patients than Doctors do and they are in a really personal situation with their patients. I think it's important to understand the psychological effects that being sick and in the hospital has on their patients so they can better understand them and try to make them more comfortable.
