I think the answer is in knowing yourself fully. If you are honest with yourself in what your needs are and what it takes to fulfill them, then you can take pride in the fact that you are nurturing yourself. Any guilt is just judgment, and doesn't really serve you.

Unfortunately, I have had to learn to put my pride aside and ask for help quite a bit in the last few years. It is never easy but I only ask when absolutely necessary. Just be thankful that you have people to go to for help. Don't let your pride get in your way.
