why does a blue screen pops up and then says power password or something what should i do help !!!!!!!

its not a laptop
it says compac and then it says password with a key sign

if you must type a password before continuing to load the OS, somebody set a password on the system from bios. If this is a desktop tower, you can reset the bios by opening the machine and moving a jumper to clear the cmos. If it's a laptop, that's much harder if not impossible.

Unplug your PC, then remove the coin-like CMOS battery for a few minutes. Place back the battery. Plug your PC and turn it on. Press F1 or Del so you could enter the BIOS menu. Update time and clock settings, then load "Fail Safe Defaults". Save and exit. You should be back in business.

hit f8 when you power up you should see the screen saying that you can change the password or turn it off
