what do you need the magic for? What is your defination of magic?

Unless those things are made clear it is difficult to provide help. Also a warning, if you want magic for powers sake, then look at the life lesson of Alister Crowley who got that and lost everything in the end. Bad idea that will bite you in the rear.

There is magic all around you. Simply open your eyes. The air is full of magic. Bees cannot fly by simple laws of gravity, and yet they do. Airplanes SHOULD NOT be aloft, but there they are. The grass is full of lives that continue under our very noses undisturbed. Babies, against all odds, are born safely each and every minute of the day. Light comes into your house at the touch of a switch. The sun is being used to heat homes and run cars. Magic is yours for the asking. Not everyone can have the kind you are asking for, but when we appreciate it, we all have magic. Please try this: ask a small child to tell you a story. Really, really listen. Pretend it is real. That imagination and that laughter is the real deal. You've had magic all along.

Magick is no more 'magickal' than a can opener. That means that if you can't understand how magick and a can opener are related, you probably can neither work a can opener nor are prepared enough to handle magick in your life.

On the other hand, half the fun of using can openers without sufficient knowledge (and the same goes for magick) is watching what happens. So, since you are a beginner, let's try something basic.

The easiest kind of magick to perform when you are a beginner is 'sympathetic'. This is because it is imitative; you will be using a 'metaphor' of something mundane in order to 'perform' magick. Imagine children who 'mimic' what adults do as a way of understanding what it means to be an adult; very similar.

Whatever kind of magick you 'wish' to perform, find a corresponding human 'action' that mimics what it is that you wish the magick to do. For example, if you wish to attract a person in your life, a very simple 'sympathetic' magick spell might involve you writing a list of attributes you wish to 'attract', wrapping them around a piece of metal, and then placing them a fair distance from you. The distance is symbolic of your inability to reach out to them. Then, selecting a piece of magick 'string' (any string will do, the power comes from the magnification of your own instincts, not the string) tie one end to a magnet and throw it to the list wrapped around the metal object. As you slowly pull the object towards you, repeat the following "As I believe, so do I bring to me what I desire. As I reach out, so do I bring to me what I desire. As I slowly pull, so do I bring to me what I desire." Repeat as necessary.

The power of the 'act' (or the magickal force) comes from the person generating the energy. Bring a weak force or a weak-will, create a weak attraction. Focus all of your energy and thoughts and desires into the act of 'pulling' what you desire towards you, the stronger the energy and the sooner it will arrive. One could even use such a simple metaphor for attracting other 'things' into their lives, but I'll leave that for you to understand.

If you are looking for a boy with a scar on his forehead or an old man with a gnarled stick and a pointy hat, I suggest going to Blockbuster.

if you want to be able to perform magic then you need to study it (for years). and not just the magic part the rest of it
laws
rules
rituals
i suggest that you buy a book on basic wicca (silverravenwolf:she is an author) and read it if you are a teenager buy her book for teenage witches
what you want shouldn't be dabbled in lightly there are consquences for everything and magic is no diffrent. read and study first then decide if its what you really want to be responsible for.

~Atheists/agnostics: do you ever wonder what will happen if there were a heaven or hell? not what you would do, but if you have ever thought about it? and when you express your thoughts on religion or your non-beliefs in god(s) and you get rebuffed, how do you react? if thats never happened to you what would you say/do? I won't be able to since I left my brain back in my grave. Rebuffed? Simply, the evidence of credibility helps my viewpoint.
