Norv Turner has a career losing record, which is a bigger black mark than Marty Schottenheimer's postseason losing record in my opinion

I am a Raiders fan and when he was with the Raiders he didn't make his bad calls on the offensive side. He's just not a defensive coach and as long as he doesn't call the plays on D they will do just fine. The Chargers will still win the division even if they just have ten wins this year and when they make it to the playoffs they will stay consistant instead of getting conservative which is why Marty couldn't win in the playoffs.

But to answer your question yes they will do worse but they will still be a great team with or without a great coach.

Well Norv Turner isn't so bad...especially when you have a team with so much talent on both sides of the ball...I can't see the Chargers doing worse even if they had a block of swiss cheese as their head coach, seriously. All they need is a standout WR and perhaps a DB because while who they have are good, they can always improve there, seeing as how the run defense is amazing still....Chargers go 12-4 or 13-3...but they could do better, that's just a guess considering schedule and bad days.

Norv is getting a team with a lot of talent. But he also has a poor coaching record to go with. Considering the success the Chargers had last year, I think just about any coach (including Marty) would do worse this year.

Firing Marty was a mistake in my opinion, but not as big of a mistake as hiring Norv Turner.

They will not have a better record. Last year's regular season was a dream season it will not be repeated.

Can Norv take the to the Super Bowl? Sure. But, he is going to need great years from Rivers, LT, and Shawn Merriman.

Right now they need a good ball catcher (and no Antonio Gates does not count). If any team should sell the draft for one person its SD.

SD has 7 picks in this years draft. Give Detroit you 1st round (#30), your second (#62), one of your thirds (#93), and a fifth (#172) for their #2 pick. Then go draft Calvin Johnson.

Talk about an explosive offense! LT, Gates, and Johnson! You will still have 3 other picks to fill a couple of other needs, but this would be the perfect place for CJ to learn the ropes. Plus with LT as a locker room leader, I think this would be great.

Plus Detroit then gets four more picks. Imagine how many careers and dreams they can squash with all those picks.

If Detroit balks at this trade, then SD should throw in a couple of Sea World passes on top.

similar to giving Jon Gruden credit for the team that Tony Dungy equipped. until eventually Norv Turner beats the Patriots, Marty Schottenheimer is a extra efficient coach. imagine about it, Marty lost to the Pats very last 12 months with gamers that made boneheaded performs like McCree. Norv Turner has only beaten the Titans and the Colts, brilliant yet to boot a team that the Chargers merely seem to personal.

Well first of all we got Norv because we couldn't get any decent coordinators after Phillips and Cameron left and Marty only had 1 year left on his deal (who would want to sign up for that?).

Norv has proven he works well with QBs (look at the prgression of Alex Smith last year) and we're not asking him to step in and be the next Vince Lombardi. We want him to run the offense, let Cotrell handle the defense and leave it at that. This team will win football games because it is once of the best (overall) teams in the NFL. With the young guys improving and maturing we will be just as good as last year (make the playoffs) and maybe even better (actually win a playoff game).

everyone looks at norvs coaching record but what people dont realize is that the teams he had sucked. i dont think norv will do as good as marty in terms of wins, its pretty heard to coach a team to 14 wins. i do think norv will have the chargers ready every game and will compete hard and should be in the superbowl. he will definitely make rivers a better QB, norv is great with handling QBs and offense.

I think under Norv Turner, the chargers will do worse, like a 9-7 record and lose in the conferece semifinals. The chargers are cursed in the playoffs.

Yup. They will still get at least 10 wins, and will make the playoffs, cause LT will be amazing again and Rivers will be better. Losing Donnie Edwards is gonna hurt their defense, but they will be fine. I think the Chargers will still be a great team next year, but the Broncos are looking really good coming into this season, and I think the Broncs could give the Bolts a run for their money.

I would probably count on that. Norv has not had even a winning record as a head coach in the NFL.
