Over 140 - Genius or almost genius
120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence
110 - 119 - Superior intelligence
90 - 109 - Average or normal intelligence
80 - 89 - Dullness
70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency in intelligence
Under 70 - Feeble-mindedness
Don't be fooled, this test is 100% accurate for Intelligence, that's why its used. Only people that score low complain 'it doesn't determine how smart you are", Smart is relative, intelligence is measurable!

'IQ' (or 'Intelligence Quotient) is calculated by dividing a persons test score by the 'mental age' score that would be 'typical' for someone of their age to achieve on the same test, and multiplying the result by 100. Yes, both the persons calendar age and the 'mental age' value used figure into the result. And the 'mental age' value is already an 'average' of scores from lots and lots of tests.
As for your question, from the definition (as explained above) there really is no theoretical 'upper limit'. But, in practice, IIRC the highest IQ score ever recorded (200+) was for a Korean child of about 8 or 9 years of age.
Also, an IQ score of more than about 140 or so usually doesn't mean much. That is, a person with an IQ of 170 may or may not be smarter than someone with an IQ of 150 on the same test.

IQ=M.A/ A.C This was the concept given earlier. The Intelligent Quotient is equal to mental age divided by chronological age. The mental age is decided on certain tests
conducted and based on correct response to such questions marks are awarded. The chronological age is the actual years since birth.
But this quotient when expressed is done by multiplying by 100. That is for example 1.1x100=110.
100 plus or minus 5 ie. 95to 105 is taken average.Any value below this is graded as idiot, imbecile, moron .Any reading over normal is also graded on different intelligent levels

The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) is probably the most popular and most used intelligence test. It has also been extensively researched and validated. The highest full scale IQ that you can obtain on the WAIS is 155.

ANYTHING ABOVE 140 IS CONSIDERED GENIUS. I DON'T THINK THERE'S A HIGH LIMIT IN TERMS OF NUMBERS. ANSWERING DIFFERENT IQ TESTS DEPENDS ON THE TEST AND WHETHER IT IS A CHILD OR AN ADULT. I THINK A CHILDS IQ CAN GO AS HIGH AS 200. THAT'S BECAUSE IF A CHILD ANSWERS ADULT QUESTIONS CAN GAIN MORE POINTS THAN AN ADULT.
