All phones in the house (corded and cordless) have a static noise when my wireless DSL modem is turned on. I have filters (came with modem) installed on each jack that phones are plugged into. The jack which the modem is plugged into has a splitter; modem into one, filter and phone into the other. Any ideas on getting rid of the noise?

Reverse what you have !! ie. plug the filter in first. Put the modem into the modem side and the phone into the phone side, the filter has to be between the phone and the wall point!!

Possibly an issue with the DSL modem, but before calling your ISP, I'd try disconnecting each of the phones/filters, and verify whether the issue persists when you only have a single phone/filter combo connected.

If you have the same problem regardless of which phone/filter is connected to your lines, it's unlikely that *all* of the filters are bad, and I'd suspect an issue with the DSL modem itself.

You can also try moving the DSL modem to a different line in the house to rule out an issue with that particular outlet/line as well.

Good luck!

The splitter needs to be inside the filter, then the ordinary modem and phone go to the splitter, The DSL modem or router plugs into the filter. The filter MUST be fitted directly to the socket, nothing else must ever be connected direct.

Try 2 things

1: plug filter into main jack then splitter into it.

@ more than likley your problem is having the modem and phone on a splitter. try discarding the splitter if this doesnt work it might be the wireless signal itself causing the static.
To test dissconect all phones except one that is as far away from the modem as possible if noise goes away it is the wirless signal.

i had this last week, went to phone shop and they said to unplug my phone line from dsl and put it in the splitter, on the splitter it has phones crossed out suggesting you cannot plug your phone in either of the empty sockets, i did anyway and both my phone and laptop are ok now, im in germany so this might not be the same in the uk, germany are abit behind the times, only just got broadband in this area?
