The advantages of owning a own business are as follows:
1) You are the owner of your own,
2) You need not work under someone or others,
3) There is no time limit for working hours,
4) The more you work, the more efforts you put in you earn more,
5) You are not under any terms and conditions like an employee.
Disadvantages are:
1) All the losses are to you,
2) If you keep your business shut for a day you are under loss,
3) There are lots of up & downs.
Best of Luck.

The biggest advantages are; being your own boss, and writing off your business expenses on your taxes. I suggest you use TurboTax if you do start your own business, because it can help guide you through what is deductible and how to annotate it. The disadvantages would be; being self-motivated (you have to keep things running and be responsible for your customers satisfaction), and dealing with any employees and their issues. Hope that helps somewhat and good luck if you decide to do it!

If your going to work your a$$ off, it may as well be for yourself.
The paperwork required to file tax returns (Schedule C for Sole Proprietorships such as what you plan) is burdensome but can be done if you are organized in a self-discipline sort of way.
The City and/or County in which you want to set up business may want to charge a personal property tax on any equipment you own - that can be very burdensome for those not making much money.
