The 7600GT will be the faster card:

And more memory will NOT help, unless running well over 1600 by 1200 resolution (as the above chart proves).

The 7600GT, easy. While having 512mb is nice, it's not nearly as important as the higher core/clock speed of the GT over the GS.

Also, keep in mind that sometimes you'll find 512mb models of video cards (not just GeForce) that don't perform as well as 256mb versions because they use slower memory- that's often the reason manufacturers can afford to load up 512mb.

Here's the head-to-to head comparison of those two cards- it doesn't really account for the extra 256mb (since there was no specific 512mb model to choose from) but as you can see, it's no contest- the 7600GT has better performance.

The 7600GT is the more powerful model. The extra memory isn't going to help that much unless you like to enable Anti-Aliasing.

I have the 7600GS 512MB PCI-E works great. But i would go to the 7950gt if you got the extra cash.

Check out the reviews here http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html

You can see the fps (frames per second) for many cards and decide which one you like the best. Then head to http://newegg.com and see how their prices compare to where you're looking to buy the card now. Newegg is usually a little cheaper.

7600 GT hands down, I own a GS w/512.
Check the specs on these 2,

The GT is a little bit more in price, but allot more in the specs.
core clock 590 vs 400 MHz
memory clock 1600 vs 533 MHz
GDDR3 vs GDDR2
I think that is worth more than the 15.00 in cost.
