I think young drivers should have to have their learners permit until 18. 16 yr olds are immature and aren't aware of all the hazards that come with driving or how to react to certain situations. Also I think when seniors turn 65 or 70 they should be made to take their driving test again, I don't know how many times I have almost gotten into accidents involving older people, it would be safer for everyone including themselves, same with young drivers too.

I think the ideal age to start driving is at the age of 17, as per the state of New Jersey. I say this because this is the age at which most individuals are beginning to act in a more mature manner. The age of 16 is a bit young as most individuals are still undergoing hormonal changes and are not mature enough to maneuver a vehicle.

No. I really feel that you should be 18 before you can even get learners permit. Driving is a big responsibility and I honestly think there should be more time put into learning all aspects of it. I think we should be taught like the cops are. High speed chase. Accident avoidance. How to crash and live....Defensive driving. I also believe it should be against the lay to talk on cell phone while driving....

Ive always been an advocate of maturity over age. Some of my friend's parents let them drive as early as 14 and they were excellent drivers. And now i know some 18 year olds who are immature and suck at driving. I feel the same way about drinking but eh i'm not the government so who cares.

I can't say. It depends on the 16 year old. Some kids are a lot more mature at that age than others and I think it's up to the parents to determine if they're ready.

No, AT 16 most teens are not mature enough to get a job why should they be aloud to drive. Having a license is a BIG responsiblity, and teenagers are just not that responsible. Sorry. I know because i was there not that long ago.

Personally, I don't feel an adolescent is mature and responsible enough for the privilage of driving. I would make the driving age the same as the drinking age: 21.

No, not as mature and responsible - I was 19 when I learn(ed) to drive and i'm glad i waited was more mature and responsible and realized that once I was behind the wheel not only was I putting my safety and life at risk but I was also doing the same with everyone else.

I never really thought about it until now but 18 might be smarter. I had my first car accident at 16 because I drove into the back of the person in front of me.

No.......... It is easy to drive, but it is easier to make mistakes - I was 16 when I was on the road, and I nearly killed myself twice. 16 is too young to take it seriously. I had to wind up in hospital to realise the consequence of not concentrating, playing with the radio, my mobile, and fixing my hair
