Know exactly where you are coming from, when younger used to love wearing tie dye hippy/goth stuff , going to indie gigs and being alternative. All my friennds had dark straight hair and were super skinny, I had masses of blonde curls and big boobs, hating the way I looked. Tried to dye my hair black but used cheap hair dye and after a few washes it turned grey!!!!!!!! I looked 19 going on 90 so a word of warning there, BE VERY CAREFUL!!!! Got over it by dyeing it purple, which was fine until I had to go to my grandmother's funeral like that and it did look bad. Answer in the end is to stuff everyone who judges you on the way you look. It really annoys me when people who are trying to fight against the establishment and ask not to be judged get very elitist against people who do not fit into their establishment. They have no right to judge you. If you really don't think you look right in just black, experiment a little. Try tie-dye or black and white for a really good contrast. The sad thing is there are few really cool females to model youself on now, but go back 10 years and look at the styles of Courtney Love, Cerys Matthews, Louise Werner, saffron from Republica and Justine Freeschman.

hey...i havent read all the replies but there seem to be some pretty bitching people on here! she only asked for advice...not criticism!
im into my own style...but the stuff i like to tend to make me look skater/emo/punk. It sounds like you have some awesome taste...
but...if you dye your hair black or bleach it just to look like the other emo's...you will end up like one of the fakers/wannabe's.
you should keep your hair how you want it and not hate your hair cause it doesnt look emo enough...
if you still dont like your hair and your mum wont let you dye your hair you could always have it cut so you have short layers...then you can backbrush the short layers to make you look more emo/punky
hope i helped =)

Yes. Red streaks are fine. But blond hair with the ends done blue looks magnificent. When you get tired of the red try blue. It will look cool!

emo culture isnt about wearing all black- its more style of clothing than color. besides- emos dress alike because they dont know who they are, they are lost and confused about being teenagers which is totally normal. basically its a culture of Lemmings- redfine "emo" - BE the Blonde bombshell of the Emo world.

Who cares? isn't the "emo" *coughscenecough* subculture approximately being "distinctive"? So particularly, who the hell cares? in case you like your hair, bypass away it. in case you do no longer, only wait til you could dye it. yet do no longer do it in view which you do no longer think of this is great in view which you're "emo". to boot, i'm quite helpful lots of scene young toddlers have great blonde hair. So rock it and be proud.
