A 15 yr old boy posted a question asking how he could make money to save for a car. He said he had done some yard work around the neighborhood, but nobody seem to have money to pay for it lately. He wanted suggestions for other jobs for kids his age. He got mean replies like: Get a job bum, or suggestions about selling drugs and/or his body..

What wrong with this picture people?

People are always complaining about teenagers. Here is one trying to be responsible, and asking for suggestions, and this is the response he gets?

Sakira...I worked at the age of 15. Regardless of if we feel he needs a car, he is planning for the future and trying to buy it himself. That says a lot about his character, doesn't it?

I went to your profile page and found the question. I gave him what I hoped was helpful advice.

You're right, sometimes we get so jaded on this site we sometimes forget there are people out there who actually need help and think they can get it from us.

Thanks for pointing that one out.

You should get 10 stars for this question. Seriously.

That is sad and it worries me. It's a rare thing for kids these days to be asking an innocent question such as this, and the boy was only looking for a little guidance. He was willing to work hard to get what he wanted. While I will admit to my share of sarcastic remarks on here from time to time, when I see what appears to be sincere questions such as this (especially in any other category other than P & S.) I'm going to answer it nicely and be as informative as I can be. Afterall, maybe the boy has no other positive adult role models in his life, and this is all he has to lead him in the right direction. (Scary thought, but it's possible!) It says a lot for society today and the direction we're headed in. :(

What a great kid! He sounds responsible and mature for his age. I think it is extremely rude of people to answer him that way. There are a lot of rude people on Yahoo Answers....but then again there are some wonderful and kind people here. That is why I always come back.....we should all encourage this boy and give him a star.

That's crap. The adults on here should really be more mature. He should get a job being a runner for an office. Like making copies and going to the post office. That's what I did instead of working fast food!

I checked it out and it seemed innocent enough - the question, I mean. People come here for advice, not to be having rude and disgusting comments for their questions. I think it's great that he wants to get a job and be responsible.

It's very sad and cruel too. The boy deserves a pat on the back and encouragement.

Did that happen here?

He's 15, he doesn't need a car for one thing.
I also don't know many people who worked at the age of 15...

That is horrible, and yes there is something wrong with that picture. I give the kid credit for trying.
