The ACLU takes every lunatic position and defends it as some sort of freedom granted by the constitution. It is disgusting.
Oh, and for the answer that asks for proof... you are so uninformed.

In the United States Supreme Court over the past few years, the American Civil Liberties Union has taken the side of a fundamentalist Christian church, a Santerian church, and the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. In celebrated cases, the ACLU has stood up for everyone from Oliver North to the National Socialist Party. In spite of all that, the ACLU has never advocated Christianity, ritual animal sacrifice, trading arms for hostages or genocide. In representing NAMBLA today, our Massachusetts affiliate does not advocate sexual relationships between adults and children.
What the ACLU does advocate is robust freedom of speech for everyone. The lawsuit involved here, were it to succeed, would strike at the heart of freedom of speech. The case is based on a shocking murder. But the lawsuit says the crime is the responsibility not of those who committed the murder, but of someone who posted vile material on the Internet. The principle is as simple as it is central to true freedom of speech: those who do wrong are responsible for what they do; those who speak about it are not.
It is easy to defend freedom of speech when the message is something many people find at least reasonable. But the defense of freedom of speech is most critical when the message is one most people find repulsive. That was true when the Nazis marched in Skokie. It remains true today.

The same reason they defended Oliver North and the KKK. The ACLU has stated that representing NAMBLA does not mean advocate sexual relationships between adults and children. What the ACLU does advocate is freedom of speech. If you want the constitution in full, this is a right upheld by the Consitution, you cannot pick and choose for personal gain.

They are not supporting their lifestyle or actions. The ACLU is supporting their right to freedom of speech. They have a right to publish any literature they want, repugnant as it might be. Anyone can write anything they wish....anyone can read anything they wish. Censorship is against the Constitutional protection of freedom of speech.
I personally think the bible is one of many books that cause death, destruction and abuse in our society - that doesn't mean that these books should be banned.
Try to read things clearly and carefully instead of skip reading and drawing your own conclusions about what is being said.

It is a joke organization. And for those of you that think the garbage that NAMBLA prints advocating illegal acts is part of their constitutional rights do you feel the same way about those who print or distribute child pornography? As a matter of fact, NAMBLA is worse since it tells you how to "ensnare" kids into their filth. I wouldn't be caught dead defending an organization like that. It's called a little bit of pride and decency for the people that they "supposedly" stand up for.

ummm dude, the ACLU represented NAMBLA in court when they were being sued because two men killed a young boy they abducted. After they failed to lure him they abducted him
One if not both of the men were Nambla members. One man still had the site up at his house when police were checking his house.

aclu is defending them and if i remember correctly it is pro bono. they are not child killers they are the north american man-boys lovers association. they think they should be able to have sex with almost any boy child, over 10 or twelve. they are pedophiles, period. the aclu has become a joke. they think the rights of a few outweight that of tens of thousands. they abuse the constitution. if this great country ever collapses, aclu will have a hand in it. they need to rethink their mission statement.

The ACL-Useless thinks that 50 year old men have the right to have sex with 12 year old boys.
About 99% of Americans disagree with that though.
