Repeating a grade is not the end of the world. In fact, it all depends on your perspective. If you have learned your lesson about skipping school, not doing your work, etc., then it will serve you well. If you look on repeating the grade as a positive experience, a chance to learn what you didn't learn the first time around, and don't treat it like it's something to be ashamed of, then you're ahead of the game.

Honesty is the best policy in this case. Be honest with a few friends at first. Explain to them that you repeated 7th grade because you made mistakes. Being honest about it will earn you more respect from your peers, and will most likely result in support from your friends. Some people may tease you or look down on you, but view this as a chance to find out who your real friends are, because they will be supportive and more than likely proud of you for being honest.

I have two nieces and a nephew who all repeated grades in school, because they all suffer from learning disabilities. They were supported by their parents and by their school, and encouraged to progress at their own rates. They are in the process of finishing high school, and are happy and well adjusted. If you are not ashamed of what you have to do to be successful, then other people are less likely to think you have something to be ashamed of. Does that make sense?

Above all, good luck, keep a positive attitude, and work hard at achieving all that you can, without comparing yourself to anyone else. In the words of the army recruiters, Be All You Can Be!
