I am 43 years old and a bra size 34 G. Aside from having a difficult time finding tops to wear, not to mention shelling out big bucks for bathing suits and bras, I am more concerned about my health and posture. I find it so difficult to hold a straight posture and have been like that since I was a teen. I do have upper back and neck discomfort, and I cannot do any exercises that involve jumping and running. I am going to speak with a surgeon in the near future. I am pretty sure I need one, but the thought of surgery is very, very scary for me. Do you think surgery is the right choice?

Yes, there is a G. Some of my bras are even "H". You have to go to expensive specialty shops to get them and pay about $175 average. (canadian dollars)

There is also a J cup too, as well as a K and L cup. I was a 38J before my breast reduction Feb 2006. I LOVE my new breasts as does my fiance!

Please talk to at least three plastic surgeons before deciding and make sure they are under your insurance plan, as you could get insurance to cover it (it covered mine 100%).

After I woke up in the recovery room I had NO PAIN!

It is totally worth it.

Ultimately, no one can decide for you, friend......you have to weigh all the benefits and risks and decide what is best for you.

I've had several surgeries (not breast reduction, but spine fusion, 3 C-sections, appendectomy, and a couple of other minor ones). The only surgeries I've regretted are my C-sections......but that couldn't be helped, since I'm very narrow hipped.

With today's modern technology, surgery, while major, isn't nearly as dangerous as it used to be. For something like you are talking about, it could even be done under Twilight Sleep (a medication known as Versed is injected into you, and you aren't exactly knocked out, but you don't remember a thing). It all comes down to the surgeon. Some prefer to use hard anesthsia (completely out) and other prefer soft (like the Versed). Each has it's good and bad points......with being totally out, wake up time is longer, and you might have an extra day in the hospital to give it time to clear the bloodstream. However, this also gives you more time to be observed to make sure there are no problems. With Versed, you are home sooner, but that leaves you home if there's an emergency.

Best advice......talk to SEVERAL surgeons. Find one that is willing to answer all your questions, and then decide what's best. Also, find out if you have a patient advocate service through your health insurance (Blue Cross does this).....they are wonderful about talking you through your fears and everything. Make a list of what questions you want to ask BEFORE going, and make sure you get your answers.......if they won't answer, leave!!

Good luck to you, sweetie, hope things work out well for you!!
