Can the problem of slight diffrence of length (or height) in legs can be corrected by using some appratus ? Is there anything available in the market that can be used for correcting the height (or length) of legs? I mean the diffrence of length between the two legs in one or two inches. Or is there anything available that can be put under the shoes so that the length can be corrected and thus to make the walking comfortable.

Yes,this can be done. For a minor leg length inequality I would advise a heel raise, but for a more significant or symptomatic leg length discrepancy this can be dealt with by a process called distraction osteogenesis. There are several different methods available, I would recommend either Ilizarov method or a Monolateral rail fixator for this. I would not recommend a self-lengthening nail as these remain very new and not fully researched. Find yourself a reputable orthopaedic surgeon who has experience with limb lenthening. Look at www.llrs.org for a list of member of the limb lengthening society in the US.

I agree that the only real way is a distraction osteogenesis procedure is really the only way to fix it but I'd go with an intramedullary nail over an external fixator any day. Talk about infection! For surgery alone, Albizzia nail implantation would run about $8000. You have to ratchet that 4 times daily though. The Fitbone system works with a radio transmitter that lengthens the nail for you and the surgery only for that should run around $12,000. In the long run, however, if it doesn't bother you too much I wouldn't fix it.

A leg 'shortness' of one or more inches is a significant biomechanical problem and should be corrected by a custom designed set of shoes (the short leg gets an 'elevated' shoe).

Best wishes.

You can get shoe lifts which could greatly help. Or if you are looking for a more permanent fix, there are orthopaedic surgeons that specialize in limb lengthening.
