Salt water is not a fuel. Although you can use salt water in a few little experiments with electricity, it does not produce power to drive machinery. You can't run a trucking company on salt water like you can on gasoline, diesel fuel, natural gas, propane, ethanol/alcohol or other fuels.
The total volume of fuels used in the world would be trivial compared to the volume of the ocean. The world uses roughly about 3 billion gallons, or roughly 10 -12 billion liters of fuel per day. That would be equivalent to a space roughly 3 -4 miles square and a yard deep. Not very big compared to the ocean. That's much less sea water than would go into or out of any big seaport in a day during the tidal flow - say, San Francisco Bay or Narragansett or Chesapeake Bay.
ps the fact that there is a natural water cycle does not mean that you cant have a water shortage. That answer is WAY, WAY off.

Even if it were possible, it wouldn't decrease the overall water at all, however the water is used, it will find its way back into the water cycle of the earth.
Water shortages in some places on earth are mainly due to weather patterns. Somewhere else, there is the opposite taking place.

It won't have any effect because water is recycled. Also, some glaciers will start to melt to fill the void left by your technology!!
Incidentally, what is required is to use more air rather than fuel for our energy requirement. Fuel should act as a catalyst but more air should be burned to meet our requirement. I thought modern engines are designed to do exactly that but they certainly need improvements!!

why would it decrease. surely the cycle of rain around the globe and its cycle thro the earth ensures a balance somewhere,
it like the water companies who say conserve water,,, why should we. when there is a natural cycle in existence and its not like there is ever going to be a water shortage, misuse maybe but not shortage, how much of the planet is water,
salt water fuel, that would need a whole new porcelain type engine and parts wouldn't it? whhooo so many questions lol
