In the categories where people need factual answers, it is a way to tell the asker that the info they were given is bad. This site was not meant for entertainment with poll questions but they had to make this category because they got sick of issuing 1,000 violations a day to the chatters.

Well the thumbs down is for an answer that is bad. Usually people give thumbs down if they dont like an answer, or if they dont agree with the answer, or sometimes people do give bad answers. Yahoo wants this website to be more informative than entertaining I did some of thier stupid survey and they were asking how respectful are the question on here and how informative they are. Trust me yahoo answers was very enteraining when it first came out in 2006 they started cracking down on answers and questions and people started to be stupid and reporting people for anything and everything. Its still entertaining but its not like it used to be.

After I answer a question I like to review other answers.
Usually I get to see a different perspective, but sometimes I see something that makes me want to respond.

A thumbs up or thumbs down is my only chance to respond directly to someone else's post.

i don't think we are hoping to end something. The thumb rankings i presumed have been to tutor which you the two agree or disagree with an opinion. i take advantage of the thumbs up and down plenty. rather whilst a query already has various of the comparable solutions, and so I in simple terms enable the asker comprehend I trust the fact or not. I additionally use the thumbs down whilst human beings in simple terms supply stupid solutions to be clever a**, or genuine destructive nasty comments.

If an answer is good, you can give it a thumbs up or if you feel it is a bad answer, you can give it a thumbs down.

It reminds me of pillaging and raping in the war fields. Not that I've ever been there. I am NOT a fan of thumbs down. Just try to ignore the reasons why, as you see, they can be very random and dumb. They create more animosity than they are worth in my opinion.

A thumbs down would indicate dislike for something that was said.

Thumbs down on an answer means that person's answer was rude, obnoxius or dumb and voted on my other viewers.

It is all for entertainment.

They mean absolutely nothing, it's just trolls, that roam around giving every answer a thumbs down. Just ignore them....

Someone might find what is written unnecessary and uncalled for. Sometimes the answer might not make any sense or is too long.
