sounds to me like a lack of respect, the use of familiarity as way to put themselves above you,.... if you like, a powerplay.... let me guess, one person started doing it (probably the one who felt most threatened by you), then the others started following their lead?.....

all of my husband's friends call him by his last name. It was also common at my previous job, people were called by their last name often. It wouldn't bother me. I don't think that it shows a lack of respect.

Sounds like you took the first offense that came your way and ran from the job. Grow a tougher skin.....look whomever straight in the eye and say you may address me as _____. Just make sure you fill in the blank or you will be stuck with whatever you allow.

Are you particular they weren't using your very last call as a nickname or a time period of endearment? perchance all of them fairly cherished you and that develop into how they suggested as you. OR did somebody else percentage your first call, so that they suggested as you through your very last call so as now to not get both of you at a loss for words. i don't think of you ought to allow it worry you a lot.

Hmm. I wouldn't be offended. Maybe you feel like it created personal distance, so I suppose I understand. It shouldn't matter whether you objected or not, leave it in the past and you'll feel better.

Everybody in class was called by their "family" name. I thought it was respect, but if you were singled out then it doesn't sound respectful.
