1) yes playing online is free

2) you can hook it up through your Internet so you just use what you pay monthly for your Internet connection (That has nothing to do with a cost to your PS3

3) The controllers have ports that you configure the controller to so all you do is assigned a spot for the controller

4) Yes you can play when it is charging and no problems besides the short USB cable that you use to plug it in to charge it

5) I know all this because I have a PS3 and have had it since the 2nd shipment came out.

Most PS3 games are free. An additional Wireless controller does not come with it's own cable but that is not a big deal because they recharge fairly quickly. Yes, you can play while it's plugged it via USB ports on the front. No issues with anything regarding this and have a great time playing online.

online and gaming on the internet is completely free.

if you get another wireless controller you need to use the usb charger that came with the ps3 and hook the controller into the front of the ps3. then press the ps button in the middle of the controller and assign it a port. its now ready to play on your ps3.

you can play while your controller is charging and there is no problems whatsoever.

The online gaming is totally free, there are no server costs. The wireless controllers have "ports" that they are assigned to so there can be multiple controllers. And yes, you can play while it's charging without any problems.

Most games require a monthly subscription fee once your'e connected up to the server.
As for connecting it depends what broadband service you have.
Most companys will supply you a modem or the appropriate wiring and adaptors but you may have to phone them first to get it sent out .
I had an ntl settop box and had to phone them to get a modem and also pay an added fee to play games on my x box.
