I see that a lot of times, girls fall for a particular guy or particular kind of guy, who are excellent manipulators, or have a lot of skills at getting what they want. Why fall for a selfish jerk?

Not only do we want attention, we also want to be led. A man who takes the lead is a rare thing and we don't always realize they are just using us! So, it's understanding why you might get misled very quickly. But, you should have good enough friends around who tell you that you are going the wrong direction and your guy-friend is a manipulative jerk.

Women fall for them because they are soooo good at what they do: manipulating. BTW, men fall for women who manipulate as well. It's easy as an outsider to recognize what is going on, but the person who is being manipulated will not see it; that's the power of being a skilled manipulator.

It's not just women, and it's not just romance. It happens to supervisors at work and to investors in business. They fall in love with the person who projects the air or superiority and promises them the world. That's what manipulation is all about, getting someone to like you or to be intimidated by you enough for you to use them...

It's just the fallen nature we inherit. Women have a drive that makes them want to be noticed. They get excited and pumped up and it carries them away to their peril. Men like to get excited, women like men to get excited over them. But it's really just a game and in time the bills come due. The guys know how to push their buttons, and then when they are done using them selfishly they turn their backs on them. Women have to learn what's important and real in the relationship game and don't compromise or get carried up and away.

Yes, genetic and cultural reasons. This particular tendency is more nature than it is nurture in my opinion. Women (especially young) tend to be into danger, power and money.
