No!
What makes you think that prostitution would lower Aids and HIV? If anything more sexually transmitted diseases would spread.
And why would you want men to just be able to go out and get sex whenever they want? Would you want your husband or significant other sleeping with some else?
Peoples lives are messed up enough, I dont think that this would solve any problems it would just cause more. And how many prostitutes do you know that are not emotionally affected by what they do, or that are not addicted to drugs and or alcohol? And by the way, not all women can have sex whenever they want. There are a lot of women out their who want sex more then their partners, and a lot of men have some type of sexual disfunction.
Their is so much more information you havent even considererd, or at lest information that you're not "seeing".

Where the heck do you get your facts? You really thing legalizing prostitution would lower STD and HIV rates. Your nuts. If it was legal more guys would do it, increasing the spead of diseases. Legalizing a career that degrades women, and men too since the career isn't gender specific, is not a good idea. Why dont we legalize drug use, murder, whatever......you obviously want our nation to go to hell, worse then it already has.
Do you really think that these women and men who are out there doing this really want to be doing it. Its a quick way to earn money VERY dangerously. The people out working the streets have no dignity therefore dont have the emotions to feel degraded.
Maybe you should rethink your opinion and do some research.

The problem is that most women who become prostitutes are compelled to do so by forces outside of there control. There is something fundamentally different about being a janitor (which is dirty, boring, tedious, physically demanding, etc.) and literally selling the use of your body, particularly for the sexual gratification of another. Prostitution (legal and illegal) promotes the idea that women are objects, receptacles for the lust of men. It promotes (as even you implied) that men should be able to relieve sexual "frutstration" through the abuse of women's bodies, rather than acting like a human being and managing their desire.
And don't even start talking about "unfair." What's unfair is that women are abused many times more often than men. What's unfair is that women make less per hour than men for doing exactly the same jobs. What's unfair is a divorce system that consistently results in women with far less expendable income than men. What's unfair is a world where women are objectified, where female sexual pleasure is immoral but male sexual pleasure is natural (and bragworthy), and where women are routinely discriminated against in almost every way.

I personally do not agree. I mean why was prostitution made illegal to begin with? Because people were dying left and right from std's. Soldiers were getting a little something something when they came home only to die. I am not sure I understand how making it legal would cut down on stds. I mean who says they would be responsible and do what was necessary to prevent disease. Also, I don't know about you but I would not want my husband having sex with a prostitute, if he was going to cheat I would prefer maybe someone who has not been around quite so much. I don't want AIDS, or any other diseases for that matter.

Legalizing prostitution does not give women who choose to do this legal protection, nor does it lower transfer of STDs such as HIV/AIDS.The states can,to a certain extent, collect more taxes. Most men go out looking for some companionship and end up in the arms of prostitutes in order to satisfy their sexual desires and fantasies.Men,unlike women, have to get sex where they find it;so unfair.Talking to a prostitute is like talking to an attorney-you get screwed out of your money,no matter the outcome.Janitor work is a low-paying profession and should be done away with asap.Telemarketers don't call;they harrass.I'm not her dad;I'm a concerned citizen. If she chooses to sell her body to strangers in exchange for sex, that's her business.

Just because one personally disagrees with something doesn't mean it should be illegal. For example, I would personally never get an abortion, but I am still strongly pro-choice. People shouldn't impose their beliefs on others in that respect. Legalizing the sex trade may actually be beneficial, since it would allow the government to put a system in place to protect these women (and men).

on herself, or it is a individual who is consumed by lust and greed, where did this come from? having little or no hope, for example most porn stars todayin the younger days were not that fetching as they are today they may of been those who were picked on alot, butthen they had sex and found respect in it so they gave into it so i believe prostitution is caused by a Womans inner sorrow, yes it is about the money and they see it gives much money, and without that money they would be very sad depressed people believe me. I do not agree with prostitution, but this is just my oppinion and i fully respect your oppinion, and no i am not a father or mother of a prostitute, but Woman are precious and beautiful, and i believe they should be treated as royalty and not a plate or tray that is passed around, Women are much more then that.
And, remember what i said that they saw the respect, well, they saw money gave them respect and love so they got it,
others do it out of desperation for their kids not because they enjoy it or love the money

Look at how many adult film stars that made much more money than just prostitutes do that have committed suicide.
I think not.
Lowering the bar sounds like a good solution, but that just creates more problems.
In my opinion. Men will not explode if they do not have sex for a "dry spell" and if you think Condoms stop all STD's you are very wrong.
Peace!

Well, it IS the oldest profession and it will never go away as long as women are willing to make good money for it and guys are horndogs like they are and willing to pay for it. Yes, it should be legal and law enforcement and the judicial systems should spend time on real crimes.
