If I see this question one more time I'm going to sob...sorry, but my sympathy levels have officially run out - not for the animals, but for the owners.

If you think your pet is dying PLEASE take him/her to a vet. Please don't just leave the rabbit to suffer to the bitter end - very few deaths are peaceful, and if they're through a prolonged illness they're often very unpleasant. I haven't witnessed a single natural death in an animal that has been pleasant.

Your rabbit may NOT be dying - take the animal to a vet to find out, you may be able to save a life! Vets can NOT put animal's to sleep without owner consent, but if the animal really is dying, euthanasia is the best option - it is quick and peaceful. With rabbits, they are anaesthetised so they just fall asleep, and then they are given the injection while asleep so they literally just die in their sleep. Or, the injection may be given into an ear vein while concious - quick and painless.

I just CAN'T understand people who turn to the internet when they think their pet is dying. We can't help, but a vet can!

If you've already talked to your vet about if there's anything they can do to make it easier, that's pretty much all you can do. If it were me I would probably just make sure the rabbit had a lot of hay, a towel or cheap blanket in their crate to lie on, and I'd spend as much time as possible just holding them and being with them.

ASk your vet. It depends on if there is some specific ailment that he has. 11 yrs is a long life for a rabbit. Best of luck.

Get to the vet and he will advise you - if he says there's no hope you could have your rabbit put to sleep so he doesn't suffer any more. I'm sure we're telling you what you already know and, I'm sorry, but it does annoy me when people ask such ridiculous questions.

If it's comfortable, just spend time with it, stroking it and keeping it warm. If you don't think it is comfortable, be kind to it and take it to the vet to be put down. Or get the vet to come to you. Be strong; let it go.

you know this for a fact?? have you taken your rabbit to the vet??
You can only provide your rabbit with plenty of straw and hay and spent as much time with it as possible before it passes away - maybe bring him/her in on a night time and give it plenty of cuddles. must be hard for you

Why do people insist asking questions on here in life threatening situations???

Your rabbit is relying on you for care so take it to the vets now!

I hope it turns out to be ok

I suppose my answer will be the same as most others. First the vet, then try and make him as comfy as possible. Enjoy the last moments. You have given it a good, loving, caring home and he/she has enjoyed being with you and your family.
